In 1911 the last Yahi Indian, Ishi, walked out of the foothills of the Cascade Mountain range in north central
California. Exploring his canyon homeland along a creek we find praying mantis, butterflies, bald eagles,
fossilized sea shells, lizards, slugs, caterpillars, ancient volcanic lava flows from Mount Tehama and more
in this ecosystem.
